Sales Manager Xia Yun: Creating connections is my passion

Palin Granit reinforced its sales team when Xia Yun started working as Sales Manager for the company in November 2021. The recruitment further increased expertise in the organization, as Xia Yun has accumulated many-sided experience in the stone industry in sales and shipments for nearly two decades. 

- My main responsibilities lie in Chinese exports: shipments, contacts and documentation, but I also have clients in other markets such as Finland and Egypt. During my previous work I have built a wide network in the business all over the world. My passion is to connect these links and help our clients as well as possible, she says.

Versatile experience makes Yun a great fit to Palin Granit

Xia Yun originally came to Finland in 2003 to study engineering at the Saimaa University of Applied Sciences. During her studies she helped a Finnish stone company with Chinese translations and got introduced to the stone business. 

- In addition to translating I helped with Chinese customers as they visited Finland. This is how I gradually got familiar with the business. In 2011 I started to work in the stone business full-time, Yun says.

As business started to slow down in Yun’s previous workplace, Palin Granit’s Sales Director Kai Ruokonen contacted her. 

- We needed more resources for our sales and Yun has definitely filled the spot. She knows the Chinese market and is a real professional with container shipments as well. She has a wide experience in the business, a vast network and knows the shipping policies. All in all Yun has proved to be a great fit to the Palin Granit sales team, he says. 

Expert in making good connections

Xia Yun is enjoying her work at Palin Granit as she continues to help her connections all over the world find the best suitable Finnish granite. She sees the current situation for natural stone challenging but is very positive about her future with Palin Granit. 

- All markets are under pressure at the moment. Yet, I believe these hard times will work like a filter that only lets through the true professionals.

Yun will be joining Heikki and Kai at the Verona fair this year.

- I have visited the fair many times before and this will be my first time as a member of the Palin Granit team. Verona fair is always a great place to meet friends and acquaintances in the industry. I’m very much looking forward to seeing them but am also excited to make new connections, she says.
